Description:

Meet up at City Hall for a ride to local area Gardens and Farms lead by local florist Sue Hines. This trip has changed from what was advertised in the Newsletter! We will start our trip off at Sunset Highway Farms & Guardian Dogs. They will have a fresh litter of dogs that you may join the waitinglist for if interested or just enjoy some puppy love! We will tour their garden area and learn they techniques on cultivating a farm and running a business. Our next stop will be to Tall Grass Farms where we will learn how to plant Daliahs at the beginning of the season and care for them throughout the summer. Fill your cart of for your personal garden at Tall Grass' shop where you can pick from your share of plants and veggies, including berry bushes, succulents, peony plants, trees, and so much more. Additional stop to another local garden being set up currently and description will be updated when one has been scheduled. Lunch Included!

Concucussion:

PARTICIPANTS WITH UNSIGNED CONCUSSION FORMS WILL NOT

BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE

WHAT IS A CONCUSSION?

A concussion is a brain injury. Concussions are caused by a bump or blow to the head. Even a “ding,” getting your bell rung,” or what seems to be a mild bump or blow to the head can be serious.  You can’t see a concussion. Signs and symptoms of concussions can show up right after the injury or may not appear or be noticed until days or weeks after the injury.  If your child reports any symptoms of concussion, or if you notice the symptoms yourself, seek medical attention right away. 

 

WHAT ARE THE SIGNS & SYMPTOMS OF A CONCUSSION?

If your child has experienced a bump or blow to the head during a game or practice, look for any of the following signs and symptoms of a concussion:

· Headaches     

· “Pressure in head”

· Nausea or vomiting      

· Neck pain

· Balance problems/dizziness

· Blurred, double, fuzzy vision

· Sensitivity to light/noise

· Feeling sluggish or slowed down

· Feeling foggy or groggy

· Change in sleep patterns

· Amnesia

· “Don’t feel right”

· Fatigue or low energy/Drowsiness

· Sadness

· Nervousness or anxiety

· Irritability

· More emotional

· Confusion

· Concentration or memory problems

· Repeating the same questions/comments

SIGNS OBSERVED BY TEAMMATES, PARENTS, AND COACHES:

· Appears dazed

· Moves clumsily

· Answers slowly

· Slurred speech

· Vacant facial expression

· Forgets plays

· Uncoordinated

· Behavior/personality change

· Can’t recall events prior to hit

· Can’t recall events after hit

· Seizures/Convulsions

· Loses consciousness

· Confused about assignment

· Any change in typical behavior

WHAT TO DO IF YOU THINK YOUR CHILD HAS A CONCUSSION?

1. Seek medical attention right away.

2. Keep your child out of play.

3. Tell your child’s coach about any recent concussions.


AGREEMENT NOT TO SUE:

I, The legal parent or guardian of the participant, the payer    fully understand that my participation in the event/class exposes me to the risk of personal injury, death or property damage.  I hereby acknowledge that I am voluntarily participating in the event/class and agree to assume any such risk.  I hereby release, discharge, and agree not to sue City of Medical Lake for any injury, death or damage to or loss of personal property arising out of, or in connection with, my participation in the event/class from whatever cause, including the active or passive negligence of City of  Medical Lake or any other participant in the event/class.  In consideration for being permitted to participate in the event/class, I hereby agree, for myself, my heirs, administrators, executors and assigns, that I shall indemnify and hold harmless City of Medical Lake from any and all claims, demands, actions or suits arising out of or in connection with my participation in the event/class. 

I HAVE CAREFULLY READ THIS RELEASE, HOLD HARMLESS, AND AGREEMENT NOT TO SUE AND FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS CONTENTS.  I AM AWARE THAT IT IS A FULL RELEASE OF ALL LIABILITY AND SIGN IT OF MY OWN FREE WILL.

**I agree that pictures taken during program hours may be used for future promotional purposes such as Facebook, city website, flyers, YouTube, etc.
